Floating In Entropy presents the first of its kind ever-evolving generative virtual fashion collection.

In the experimental spirit of the avant-garde, Floating In Entropy by Superficial journeys into a new territory that sees fashion garments transform into evolving virtual art forms. The procedurally generated collection spawns countless unique garment designs, with each permutation endlessly evolving over time.

Simultaneously ephemeral and everlasting, the collection contrasts these two unique qualities of digital materiality into a virtual-native design that poetically floats through future possibilities. Inspired by Math and specifically the chaotic, pseudo-unpredictability of noise functions, the randomly generated garments in the collection are created from the same base geometry and then procedurally cut, shaped, coloured and textured using shaders.

This novel approach to virtual fashion means that the designs can seamlessly traverse across a variety of existing and emerging real-time digital spaces. This site presents a web-based implementation of the design which runs on any modern browser and can also be ported into other virtual and digital spaces using the same foundational code.

The aspiration of the collection is to radically examine the transformative potential of virtual fashion and discover new design methods that begin to deliver on the promises of this medium, creating garment designs that are fit for the dynamics of our future realities.

Launched on 1 July 2024, all current and future garments in the collection share this universal origin time and have been in evolution for 1Y 254D 20:31:56
